After the introduction of the drug called Nevirapine, wich drastically decreased hiv-transmission from mother to child, an alternative had to be sought for breastfeeding in order to prevent the infection of healthy babies. Sparrow Ministries
Since 2006, Orange Babies has been commited to these projects and daily care can be provided for 70 children. The government does provide ARV's, but the need for other medicines is also high. Therefore, Orange Babies also provides additional medication.

Orange Babies supports a unique project within Yabonga: the Community Mothers. They are women who keep their houses open for children from their own community. These children have become orphans, are infected with hiv/aids or their parents are too sick to take cae of them.

In cooperation with the local department of the Ministry of Public Health, Family Free provides education programmes wich are in particular aiming at pregnant women with hiv, but also at the grandmothers of families that are suffering from hiv. Keep reading
