A home for orphans and children with HIV / AIDS

The New Jerusalem Children's Home is located in Midrand, a suburb of Johannesburg, and is run by the very enthusiastic Phina and Anna Mojapelo. This orphanage takes in children who have been neglected or abused. They are usually rejected by their families because they are infected with HIV / AIDS or because their parents are themselves too sick to take care of them.

Orange Babies sponsors this project with food, medication and baby things. The children also go to school. New Jerusalem is a replacement home, ensuring that the little ones do not suffer from shortages of anything in the first years of their lives.

"Saving children is a passion. It's wonderful to see how children grow when you know how they were brought in."

Anna Mojapelo, founder of New Jerusalem

New Jerusalem was threatened with closure in 2008, because it did not meet health inspection’s requirements. Orange Babies then took on responsibility for renovating the buildings to enable the children to continue living there.
A year later, a kindergarten was also added. An important project, because not only children from the orphanage, but also children from the neighbourhood go there..
