Hope Village

Hope for a better future

Hope Village is a complex that consists of three orphanages: one for babies, one for boys and one for girls. There is also a clinic that dispenses powdered milk to HIV mothers to replace breastfeeding. In addition, they receive food, information and medical care for themselves and their babies.

"I take care of 24 little boys in the Boys Home. They are the sweetest little boys in the world and I am very happy that I am their "mother"!"

Cynthia Hoaes, house mother of the boys home

The patron Caroline Tensen attended the opening of the house for 24 boys and the house for 22 babies in June 2008. The fulltime “mothers” who work in each orphanage are assisted by a specialist team, which includes volunteers. Orange Babies built two of these orphanages and provides the daily needs for all three orphanages.

The children who live here are brought in by social workers, in cooperation with hospitals, child abuse centres, child protection services and the regional police.. Hope Village is the best location for helping and treating HIV-infected children, whose therapy is sometimes difficult. Two of these children are Linda (11) and her little brother Joshua. They are both HIV positive and before coming to the orphanage, live with their single mother who could no longer care for them. Linda and Joshua have been doing well since they moved to Hope Village.
